Despite its extensive functionality, the MPQ2000 is fast and easy to set up and use, thanks to its high-resolution colour display and intuitive user interface.
The MPQ2000 can be powered from Phase A, from an internal rechargeable battery pack or from any conveniently available mains supply. It is housed in a robust IP54 (NEMA4) enclosure. These features mean that it can be readily used in almost any location, including outdoors.
Typical applications of the MPQ2000 include compliance testing to power quality standards, power factor studies, load studies and load balancing, substation monitoring, capacitor bank sizing, transformer derating and lamp flicker analysis. It also offers facilities for investigations into problems such as breaker tripping, switchgear failures and neutral overheating.
The instrument’s integral colour display operates in oscilloscope and multimeter modes, allowing RMS data, waveforms, demand data, phase angles, harmonics, unbalance, flicker and more to be viewed. Data can also be recorded direct to a standard SD memory card, and either recalled to the display, or transferred to a PC for further analysis and archiving. As standard SD cards are used, expanding the memory is as simple as plugging in a new card, which means that the recording capacity is virtually unlimited.
When data is to be recorded, the MPQ2000 automatically identifies the current clamps, recognises their range and verifies that they are correctly connected. This eliminates the risk of time-wasting defective recordings.
Megger’s new MPQ2000 portable power quality analyser is supplied complete with internal battery pack, unfused voltage leads, external AC adaptor and soft-sided case. Available accessories include multi-range rain tight current clamps for use on AC circuits up to 6,000 A.
